SOUTH TEXAS LATE SEASON

Anyone going to be hunting late season in S.TX? I'll be there the last week hoping to close out the season with a decent buck.

Im hitting hard it the next 3 weekends in a row in live oak. Got 1 buck tag and 2 does left to fill if oppurtunity presents itself.

Finishing up season in Goliad County killing a few does then shift over to Live Oak the next couple of weeks to hunt there.

Im hoping this cool weather will get them to rut in the open this weekend instead of behind locked doors like some bashful teens.

What you think STXRANCHMAN you think they will be moving about alittle more freely this weekend instead of rut being at night and in the cover of the canapoy.

Richochet, had them chasing a bit down in Webb county after the front blew in Tuesday night, hunting Wed. morning. 3 bucks were working some does.

good to hear. Plan on sitting all day saturday with no break and prob a good 5 hours on sunday so alot of time in the field planned for this weekend. Gonna sit on my oats plot that has been seeing alot of activity here lately from the does. Find the woman find the men.

Ive been hunting this great weather the last few days. Seeing only limited rut activity but they are moving. Im hunting 6 of the next 10 days

Last night it kicked off again. Lots of chasing. I watched a real nice buck work every doe in sight and several others checking does and chasing. Should be a good week.

Like I said before, I'm hoping for the action to still be there 12-18th cuz that's when I'll be there.

Hunting til end of feb. Hunters solid the next 10 days

I'm heading down right now, give an update tonight. Hunting near hebbronville.

Update- saw no bucks just 6 does, hoping I get lucky in the morning cuz that will be it for me.

Looks like its getting chilly, usually they lay up when its cold until 9-10am before the main movement starts.

What's the latest any luck?

Update: just got my first buck of the season, here in webb county, 2:30pm. At least an 8 pointer is what I saw in my binoculars but will post pics after I wait awile because 45 minutes before I shot there was another big 8 Pointer that I saw but didnt have a shot. Thank you lord, finally!

At least 8 pointer? You shot with out knowing what you shot?

I saw him, he saw me I looked at him thru binoculars he had 8 points that I could verify but couldnt tell if he had little stubbers, pulled gun out, he started walking in brush, called out to him, then took him. My last chance to hunt and the lord gave me the opportunity.

Yep let's see what an "at least an 8pt looks like". I love buck fever and that's why I hunt! Sure have missed it this year. Congrats on your buck!

Obviously he knew it was a deer, I've done it many times when i wasn't a trophy hunter.

Thanks guys, I'm hunting right outside of Bruni Tx, about 50 miles west of Laredo, will I'm glad I shot him bc he's a beauty, it was about a 175 yard shot and man was I stoked. Our land is not trophy quality bc we don't have that kind of money but we do care on what we shoot and we have management in mind all the time between me and my dad. Thank you lord, can't wait till next year

There will be hardly any illumination the last week of the season. I pay a subscription for moon phases so I'm hoping there right which has been for the last 3yrs.

Was down last weekend. Saw deer, some good young bucks and my wife shot a pretty big boar. Will be after it pretty hard the rest of the season. Prior obligations had me missing the rut again this year, hopefully they will kick in again early jan.
