How will oil prices affect deer leases?

Will more leases become available? Will they be cheaper? Will everything stay the same?

Leases probably the same. Corporate hunts probably down. Big ear tagged WT way down.

FWIW I've already scene some canceled hunts in the outfitter section due to the economic situation.

Only affect I have seen is now all the guys can afford to go.

In the 80's when it happened lease prices went up steadily for quite a while. I do not see any drop in lease prices in the future.

Some of the oil money is spent on hunting, but it is a very small portion of the overall hunting money spent in Texas. We were still leasing to hunters back in the 1980's, not one of them was in the oil business. The overall demand for leases won't fall and the prices won't either.

The lower fuel prices will open up opportunities for some to consider getting on a lease. If there is more demand, the higher the lease prices the landowner can ask for.

it's not going to affect lease prices at all in my opinion. It will certainly affect package hunts. Oil field companies do a lot of entertaining at these places. high dollar expenses will often be the first thing to get cut back on during a slow down.

I'd expect an increase rather than a decline. Demand will still be there, but landowners who may have gotten used to good royalty checks may try to make up the difference in other areas.

Leases not much movement.

Big package hunts will take a hit.
