Leaving the processor and thought.... - 11/20/14 03:25 PM

Hey guys and gals.. Long time reader..first time posting. I am sure this question has been beat to death but.... I was leaving the processor last weekend.. I dropped off 2 hind quarters and 2 front shoulders.. leaving the backstrap, neck and tenderloins in my cooler.. The processor kept my tag.. I was in Hamilton,Texas driving to Carrollton.. If I were to get stopped.. and there is no tag for the remaining parts I brought home.. Well..you know the rest.. What is the correct procedures within the law to drop off a portion of your deer and travel home with the rest??

That is because we understand hunting can not be catch and release.

sunsetroosters I have been called worse about the time my wife walks into the kitchen and sees me cutting up a deer on her granite countertops or the time I forgot to haul off the trash to the office containing several squirrel parts after cleaning a few.. That wasn't the bad part.. after the dog got into the trash and commenced to eating squirrel guts!!! She got over it!!! eventually

I had the same question the year before last when my processor starting insisting on having the kill tag - and my taxi was also requesting it. The processor said their receipt for drop-off is considered a WRD (they put the license, etc. info on it).

I was skeptical, but as luck would have it - when I got to taxi after dropping off the meat at the processor, there was a hard-[censored] GW checking everyone. I handed over the processor receipt and started to stammer an explanation, and he waved me off and told me it was perfectly fine.
