Meat ? - 11/09/14 11:44 PM

Shot a spike this morning and noticed some dark spots in the meat in all different areas of his body. Am cutting up the meat now to process later and the dark spots are in some of the meat but not all. Any thoughts? Deer was healthy

I think it'll be fine once cooked.
Congrats on the fine eating! food

Was that the side laying on the ground when you found the deer? How long did you wait to go find it? Nothing wrong with it at all. up

Another pic. When I got to him he was still alive but barely moving. High shoulder shot. I cut the jugular to end his suffering so he wasn't laying very long. Possibly worms? If cooked would it still be edible? Sorry for so many questions, just dont want to waste meat if its ok and dont want to get sick either

My personal rule of thumb... If its not green you're good. If it doesn't stink to high heaven you're good.

Trama in or near that muscle. Filet into steaks and wash it, you'll be fine.

What we in the world of death investigations would call "Post Mortem Lividity". Fancy terminology that describes the settling and pooling of blood after death.
