Just a few of the bucks and that will change with the rut. Hunt the Cisco area and last week about half of the pics were early and late in the day. Will be checking cams tomorrow
Changes in your routine or routines in the early morning hours this time of the year can alter deer movement patterns. When they are used to your or your neighbors patterns after daylight and now move around before daylight. Also the heat we still have could be effecting them since they have thicker hair coats now. Bucks are getting into a pre-rut pattern also in my area, so this could be happening to you. If you have a few acorns it could change their movement off of your place also if the deer do not live on your place all the time. Winter oats or wheat could be drawing them also and allowing them to feed all night.
My deer have been the same way all week. East TX. Have never seen this little daytime movement during this time of year. Movement is muted anyway this year because they have so much to eat.
The rut will certainly change that-but if they keep ignoring the food plots it's still going to be tough. I expect it to be tough until the first freeze....
I was thinking it had to do with the heat and food being everywhere. This time last year I had already shot 3 deer. I've only seen one deer on my property's to date this year and it was out of bow range. Funny thing is I was very happy to see a deer, I've gone from deer hunting to deer hoping.
Hunted Cisco last year and did not see any deer in the morning, had zero pictures of deer out in the day. The few times I saw deer was right before sundown, they were skinny does.
