Just had a buddy tell me that in regards to a buck I'm chasing.

Very clearly not a deer hunter.

I try to name them all, hit list or not.

It's true. Jshouse named a deer & it's been off limits ever since.

I named the big hog under my feeder "Chops" I bet I kill him, and "thumper" was killed by my son is already eaten. Now if "Crooked Brow" would just come out on opening day.

I really had no intention of shooting what you call "Gumby" even before you named him.

Had one once, I watched grow up, always on game cam at my feeder. He seemed to always pose for the camera, so named him pretty boy. Only one I ever named. He grew up very nice, and neighbor finally got him. So I agree, but I'm a girl.

Got to call him something if he's in your house.

Real close. He calls him "Browtine". I really liked Goal Posts but he ain't mine to name. He will walk this year if he stays on this low fence property but the chances are he will go visiting chasing wimmins.

A few years ago I had two nice bucks coming an 11 and a big 8 I named the 11 "This Year" and the 8 " Next Year" unfortunately on opening day when I was expecting them to show I hear a shot not far across the fence on the neighbors side and later found out it was "This Year" who had been shot on the way to my feeder.

Names make it all the more fun. Then, if you succeed in taking him, the name lives on for years in photos, horns, and maybe a mount.

I not only name the shooters and prospects, I create a powerpoint deck so I can watch their progress year after year.

Not a bad concept. I like it.

I have passed on brutas for two years he is getting dropped if I see him again. Of course after broad side 15 yard shots or less the last two years may never see him again lol.
