Sitting in our tripod, and already have a buck coming in. Awesome sauce!!

Check that, had three coming in, but got busted by them when they were about 25 yards out. They approached from due east, and the wind was blowing from the east, so unlikely to get busted by the wind as the season approaches...any other kind of wind and we would have been good.

OK, so here are some pics of the bucks that came in, these are obviously from the game cam since the wind was blowing from the direction least favorable for this stand (due east) and the bucks decided to try and approach straight from the east rather than a more typical northest or north. Anyway, here are the trio that are pretty regular at this set up:

First buck was the lead, figure him to be middle aged, and very identifiable by his bright white throat patch:

Second buck is a little younger and smaller, but has a small double throat patch:

Third buck is one of several I wouldn't mind wasting lead on this year. I figure he is the oldest of the bunch and is the last one to come out, but he will probably be the dominant buck when things heat up this fall:

Despite getting "busted" by these guys (the feeder went off right as the lead was checking us out, had the feeder not gone off right then, they may have decided we were ok and made it all the way in), I was happy with the sit. My son shot his bow from multiple locations and was hitting target well and we worked a little on angle of hit due to being in a tripod. We moved the tripod (also could have been something the deer were a little spooked about) and got things in order for October. So, we were a little sweaty, things were new, and we had just pulled the truck out about 15-20 minutes before these guys came in, so all in all I was thrilled to have them even get 25 yards away from us. Very excited for the season to start.
