Pop up blinds - leave in field?

For those that hunt in pop-up blinds, do you leave it up from one weekend to the next?

I've got a spot in our pasture that I want to put the one my father-in-law has. Debating to leave in field for a week if I won't be at property.

I leave mine out from October - January. It's just an old cheaply that's has lasted for three seasons now.

Secure it, and I mean REALLY tie it down, and leave it. I leave mine out all season and pull in January. The only damage was a little fading due to the sun.

I put 4 tepost around mine and tie it to each of them.

As said above I would tie it down really well for the wind but also for livestock or horses getting curious about it. Only problem I have had down in South Texas is rats in a bad drought will chew on the cloth or seat in one if left out for a longer period of time.

I put mine out around the 1st of Sept. and leave it until my last hunt.I drive steel rods in the ground that I fabbed up with eyes at the top and use 4 motorcycle tie downs.The roof may cave in if it snows but it will not blow away.Also I always try to set it up in a shady area with low hanging limbs,on my lease thats generally in a little mott of liveoaks.You will love the popup.

I leave them out but I have had two different ones destroyed by 70 mph winds in the panhandle.

It depends on where you hunt, and if there are cattle. Further North I have set them up for weeks at a time with little to no issues. Down South the last time I set one up and left it for 2 weeks, I went to crawl inside for an evening hunt and the ENTIRE inside was covered with hundreds of black widow spiders. A few females and lots of males, was a black widow breeding ground & incubator. I have an issue with spiders, and the cows tore it up a bit too. I prefer to only keep my ground blinds out for a few days then pull them.

I leave a few out each year for the entire season. 1) Secure like many have said 2) I spray the heck out of mine with demon wp and put down granules (insecticide) 3) brush them in good with cedar if available....this helps with concealment and scent control.

Gotta tell ya, my first reaction was to burn it. We were in a drought and really dry though, so instead I reached in my tool box and sprayed two full cans of spider killer spray on them. Let it set for a few hours then came back to make sure they were all dead. Put it in the back of my truck and took back to camp, then sprayed some more. Washed it out the next day real good then hung it up for a couple of weeks to air out. After a couple of weeks and a little Scent Away & Earth Scent it was good to go. Needless to say that spot was a bust that year. I had another ground blind brushed in in another area that only had one or two. I killed them with knife and boot and shot a couple of pigs out of it with my crossbow but after seeing the other blind I pulled it before I left. Been pulling them ever since.

Most have covered it. Secure em, spray em and leave em.

Shaded areas keep them from fading. As far as rats, I have learned to put a stick under two opposite sides that leaves enough room for them to come and go. No more chewing. Mine are up north, so not much fear of snakes... But it is virtually impossible to keep a snake out anyway, so should work down here too.

No problem with cows unless neighbor cows break fence to our hay pasture.

I need to find a good spot. The spot I was thinking will not work because sun silhouettes me at both dusk and dawn.

I sure do like an elevated box blind. I keep a pest strip in there that pretty well takes care of the bugs. Except for ants that invaded a few months ago. They were eradicated.

If it had been me, with the spiders, I would have likely burned the blind! I can manage bugs, and most spiders, but don't want to mess with the poisonous ones.

I only use one, move it around quite a lot, lots of brush, so its no problem to blend in.

Leave it in place for the season.

I pick mine up.

Left mine last year, cows made it their own. It wasn't a cheap one either.

I leave mine out through hunting season staked down good. They will be a spider breeding ground so spray or bug bomb.

I leave mine out for the season unless I kill out. So it's out for the season . . .

me neither, i put blinds out to leave, i got about a year out of pop up blinds then they deteriorate . some 2x2s put together for frame and some cedar fence boards for siding and homemade camo curtains works well.

Yeah it's a pain sometimes but I use mine in different locations. I pull it and take it on pig hunts elsewhere. I use it in Missouri for bad weather hunts. I use it on rifle hunts where ever because at longer ranges getting them out early isn't as much of a factor. They can serve a purpose. But a good solid blind is a better choice if you have a good location you will be at for a longer period of time and you don't need to move it.

I leave mine out for the season. They do fade and all the other stuff mentioned. That's why my next one will be a krivoman blind that I can move easily and leave out year round.
