How many rifles.

How many rifles. - 10/22/13 01:15 PM

How many deer rifles do you take to your lease. I live 60 miles from our lease and usually stay for at least 2-3 days when I go. I always take 2 rifle just in case something happens.

Re: How many rifles. - 10/22/13 01:16 PM

If I'm traveling I'll take 2.

Re: How many rifles. - 10/22/13 01:18 PM

Yep..
I usually bring way more than I should because I may be sighting in a new optic or working up a load on some rifle.

I went out last Friday and started pulling stuff out of the safe, only to put some back in!

This weekend I will take 2

I'll be hunting with four different brands and caliber of rifles this year, just to throw the deer off. No Savages though. clap

Re: How many rifles. - 10/22/13 04:29 PM

I always take at least two, and most times more, depending on what type of hunting I will be doing.

I would hate to lose hunting time due to a dropped rifle or some other damage while so far away from home.

Re: How many rifles. - 10/22/13 04:39 PM

270 Ruger for deer and a Remington 220 Swift for Yo's and pigs.

Re: How many rifles. - 10/22/13 04:59 PM

Two. Primary weapon is either my bolt action 7mm mag or AR10 in 308. My backup is my AR15 that is carried in the RZR. Also carry a sidearm (either 357 mag or S&W 40).

wait a minute...I thought everyone's rifle, shotguns, pistols, tannerite, ammo, mags and even safes fell out of the boat and are in the bottom of the lake covered with silt... scratch

Re: How many rifles. - 10/22/13 05:12 PM

I always carry 2 weapons into the field with me. I learned that lesson when I was 10 and had a firing pin fail on me dove hunting in Kansas. I had to wait till my buddy limited out so I could use his gun. That sucked.

Re: How many rifles. - 10/22/13 05:26 PM

Only one. But I will often switch to a different one on the next trip if I feel I need a boost in luck, not that I'm superstitious or anything like that.

Re: How many rifles. - 10/22/13 09:47 PM

I am simple, 308 for the deer, 10mm for anything close. My son on the other hand.....

1895 in 30-06, Iron Sights
25-06 with scope when the deer are too far away for the iron sights.
AR-15 when the sounder of pigs comes a-calling
and the 45 on the hip, just because.

Like the Scouts say, "Be Prepared!"

Re: How many rifles. - 10/22/13 09:54 PM

Three.

.300 WSM for deer (primary)
6.8 SPC AR-15 for pigs, coyotes and a backup deer gun.
17hmr to terrorize the p-dogs.

Re: How many rifles. - 10/22/13 10:15 PM

if I am at my lease, 1-30-06, 1-30-30, 1-22 mag. The 30-30 is dual purpose, it can fill in if there is a problem with the -06 or I can use it for hogs. 22 mag is good for hogs, coons and any other varmits

I Always take two sometimes three, I would hate to get a couple hundred miles from home and have a malfunction.

Re: How many rifles. - 10/22/13 10:56 PM

I always bring two rifles unless its a quick day trip.

I would never go on an extended trip with just one gun, too many times I have seen mounts come loose, guns get dropped, etc.

At least two maybe 3, maybe 4. Depends on how long I plan to be there. This year it'll be a 25-06 and 6.5x55. I might also take my 22-250 and my AR. Probably the first weekend tho I'll just take my two deer rifles.

Re: How many rifles. - 10/23/13 01:43 AM

I take at least 2 when I head out, and ALWAYS carry my Glock 20 "10mm" with a 6" Lone Wolf barrel. I have broke primary rifle, (don't ask) finished the weekend with a 44 mag Ruger Super Blackhawk. I don't hunt South Texas anymore, the lease is only 55 miles away.

Re: How many rifles. - 10/23/13 02:55 AM

Hate to admit it but I have taken as many as 5 if you count the 22 lr for squirrels. Hate trying to decide which one to hunt with so I take many and make the decision last minute each morning

I am in the same boat. And due to Obama Care my Health Insurance will be taking about 40% of my monthly income, so I will not be able to procure what I want...being:
AR-15 or Mod. 700 in .308... what it is to dream

Re: How many rifles. - 10/23/13 02:16 PM

I always take a backup rifle when I go hunting. Take a backup shotgun when I hunt birds as well. My guns don't break very often, but when they do it seems like it's when I hunting vs being at the range.

Re: How many rifles. - 10/24/13 02:32 AM

22 rifle goes everytime I go hunting. At least two deer rifles and my suppressed 300 Whipser. Will take 2 rifles to the stand most of the time. The rifle I am shooting deer with and the suppressed Whisper in case a hog or coon shows up before the deer.

Re: How many rifles. - 10/24/13 03:57 AM

I always carry my bow, 243, glock 17, colt AR 15A3, and my trusty stevens pump 12ga. My dad says it is over kill, but I like having option in case something happens to one when I'm 7 hours from home hunting in Doss. The shotgun i keep for turkey since I'm usually covered up with them.

Re: How many rifles. - 10/24/13 04:03 AM

I take at least 3, 243, 270 and 30-30 depending on setup and kids/guests. I will carry anyone of them though. Anxious though this year to shoot a deer with my Tikka Lite in 243.
Posted By: gtrich94

Re: How many rifles. - 10/24/13 02:35 PM

We took two last year. One 243 that the kids used and my son's 22 that we used to shoot cans and milk bottles at our range in camp.

I'll probably take 3 this year. The 243 for the kids, the 22 to play with in camp and my 308 because he was lonely in the safe and wanted to get out and shoot something.
