I have tried everything I can think of and have had very little luck. The deer just don't seem interested (yes, I have a camera on it). I tried adding apple cider vinegar to control the alge - did not work at all, tried shade tarps - did not help. My next plan of attack will be to use a much larger water tub - we will see but I don't think the juice is worth the squeeze. Below is a link to what my setup looks like. Not much to loose, I spent about $150 (or less) on this water system.
I bought 2 x55 gallon drums and piped them to a 3 gallon rubber water bowl. I use a simple float on the side of the bowl. I have about $45 bucks in mine. I will be changing out for a 275 gallon water supply. Paint them white to reduce algae.
I use 1 cup of clorox to 275 gallons of water to help control the bloom. The deer don't seem to care. They only use my system when everything else is dry, but that si what its there for.
