The region in the state and where the doe was from has more to do with it than anything. Deer in pens hold the breeding dates for the area their bloodline orginated from. Same as in deer moved around the state by TTT or brought into the state by TPWD years ago. What changes for their is the deer they cross with to dilute the bloodline. You take a deer from South Texas and TTT it to the areas where the Avery Island subspecies is and the South Texas deer will rut mid to late Dec while the Avery Island deer will rut late Sept-Oct. Deer taken from Texas to Miss. or Georgia will still rut at the same time as long as they remain pure Texas bloodlines.
if this was the case, most of the deer in texas would rut in december, because most of them came from south texas after over hunting had decimated the populations.
I just finished reading an article I posted in another thread, that shows deer stocking rates in east texas. east texas deer rut right around the 1st of november, if they "held" their ruts in relation to where they were from originally, they would rut in december. There would be no diluting of blood to change the dates,so to speak, because they were stocking the deer in places that had no population whatsoever.
