News on rut in S.Texas??

Well for you S. Texas how is the rut treating you all seeing any movement? Ill be heading out monday for the entire week to do some ratting and grunting on the senderos on my lease post up guys!!

Was in Jim Webb last weekend. They were just starting to chase. Got word today that it has blown wide open! Good luck!

I hunt Starr county cant wait to get out there!!

I just returned from western Dimmit co. and it is on BIG TIME!...full blown.

I hunt in Starr also and its just starting will probably go full swing by this week. Only a few of the older bucks were starting to get swollen necks and their glands are just starting to show some darkening. Saw a beautiful 12pt but left him for next year as he has a lot of future potential.

I just got back From Dimmit county and it was on, I hated to leave.

On our land the deer are starting to calm down, were hot and heavy last few weeks, but cooled down toward beginning of last week...

Headed out tomorrow, and I expect to see some stragglers in "rut revival" but for the most part catching up on some corn hunger (hopefully)

I hunted la salle co yesterday , saw 14 different bucks it was very muddy as it rained most of the day so I sat all day , the rut is in full swing with bucks sighted all day long checking the does !! good luck everyone & merry Christmas !!!

Benivedes/Freer area

Got a text from the guy who lives on our ranch Sept to Feb in Laredo. He said "Rut is ON. Come see me!".

With that text, I am headed down first thing tomorrow.

Wouldn't you know it the neighbors cows knocked over my feeder. Happened within last 4 days. I hand threw some corn so we will see

stake those legs down!

They are. Legs are 3 piece. Stakes held. Wasn't plannIng on cattle but I guess you never know

OH! They separated... that stinks... nothing worse than get to the lease ready for hunting and feeder isn't working! NO FUN!

I was running late but i am already taking off to my lease gonna be there till Thursday hopefully all goes well and i come back with a "Trophy".

Outside of Rio on 755 & el tanque rd bucks are chasing and moving pretty good as far as the other lease members have told me

it's wide open in Mexico, just west of Zapata. My son and I rattled in 3 bucks in less than five minutes!

Ha!! It's been a long season. My brain has turned to mush!

I am a few miles south of freer, and didnt see anything but rabbits. I heard a distant rifle fire but thats it. Its not looking to good on this piece of turf.

Supposedly they were chasing on the lease im at but to my surprise there not moving maybe next week it will get better

I didnt see any sign of a rut. No deer showed up to my party. Oh well. Good luck Sandman05

How far south are you hunting? Our place is about 28 miles south of Freer. I would say the deer are starting to rut...but it's not on 100%. So far we have
8 point 12-15
8 point 12-17
And my 10 pointer 2 days ago.

We spotted a larger 10 wednesday morning....and I'm going back in a few days to get him:)

We were about 5-6 miles south of Freer. I saw lots of hog tracks and a few deer tracks here and there, but nothing else.

Any news around the bracketville/del rio areas? Heading that way in
the morning.
