barnett quad 400

barnett quad 400 - 10/09/11 06:22 AM

Got it off eBay. Waiting for it to come in.
Typically I hunt Mathews bow, I was in a rush to setup my tree stand. I didnt set it up in a good spot. got busted to many times off season. So a quick pull of trigger an a leafy suite should do it.
Anyone got any feedback on the crossbow. This will be my sons after I get my doe tags filled.

Wax the string as many times as you can after you shoot. I had one as well and the limb spilt after 6 shoots. It was pretty good shooter an easy on the pocket book. Also look into getting the rope so you can pull the string back easier. I never had one an it sucked.

I also bought mine off eBay, it came with bolts but not sure if they were the ones that came with it. Mine was really accurate. I shoot it about 7 times at 20-30 yards an it was good. I had the stock red light scope. I think you have to buy the Barnet crossbow bolts if it doesn't have any. It's easy to use am fun to shoot. Also kinda loud but really fast so the noise doesn't make any diffrence.

Watch the Barnett's they are know to have some issues with the limbs on the older ones. You can get good arrows for it at Bass Pro, Cabelas or most any archery store. I shoot an older Excalibur that I love, but really looking at the new Wicked Ridge. Rope cockers are nice, reduces pull weight by about 50%!

The arrows from Barnett at Academy will work, make sure you put a little rail lube on to keep string in good shape. Not to hard to sight in, so practice a little before you take off in the woods. Get a good broadhead(I prefer cut on contact) and have at it.

PM me if you want a couple of good crossbow links.

ok cool. thanks for the info jake, mr.Construction? i did shoot it at cabelas and i did notice it was loud. as i pulled the trigger i never seen the bolt make it to other side. with my bow set at 65 to 70lb draw,an at 35 yards i can see the arrow travel. so i guess with that kinda speed i dont realy mind al to much.

I have the Barnett Quad 400 and it is very accurate out to 50 yards. It is very fun to shoot and I have had zero problems with mine.

My buddy just took this buck with one. Passed completely through including the leg. Damage like a slug.

I have been looking into them for awhile now. Heard alot about string breakage problems. Found someone on here that sells
re-firb. units for $100 less than retail. May have to check it out a bit harder.

Just remember, the placement of your hand is important when shooting a crossbow. If your finger is on the flight track while shooting, you might lose that finger or be seriously injured.

I just bought my girlfriend one three week's ago and she hasn't had a baby sitter so I got first crack at killing with it. Her first trip we saw two non shooter does and a small 8pt. then two day's later I got to take it out and a nice doe read the script and stopped 15 yard's from me. I STRONGLY recommend going to cabela's and buying the rage crossbow broadhead's. They were recommended to me and I'm sure glad of that. The crossbow shoot's so hard and accurate anyway the rage just put's it over the top. Smacked that doe and the entry was normal on the hit side and it devastated the inside and exit wound. Deer only went 15-20yard's very hard thru some thick stuff and fell right over with no major tracking job. Quad 400 great shooting fun fast bow. I asked whether I should aim low or put it where I wanna hit and you def. put it right where you wanna hit or maybe an inch low. It got both lung's and made the heart look like a bomb went off in there.

SWEET....Im excited now to hear more feedback. at my lease i have a issue with hogs.too many. so while i hunt, if no shooters come. ill try an take a hog out. i wonder if the others will run from the sound of crossbow. or will they come back for more like when im using a bow.<[--------- sniper time.
