Yep, Another "Live from East Texas" hunt!!!

Ok guys, here in my stand at 8:28am after a morning of rain.... Got out of the camphouse and into my stand! After no moon and a good rain I ought to see some movement today! Not a lot of hunting pressure out here right now which is gonna play a big factor in my hunting today so let's see what happens.... So far I've got 4 crows on the ground under my feeder, urghhhh!!!

The sun just started shining down through the trees and lighting things up!!!

I'm staying in the stand all day Sis!!! I normall stay in my stand til noon then out for a power nap, sandwich and a drink, then back in the stand by 1:30pm

The wind is at my face which is good and I put out a little doe piss!!! I say this is a "hot" stand, but without the hunting pressure around me it may be difficult!!! It's gonna be a long day fellas!!!

The crows have left and the wind is picking up a little! Other than the noises of nature and the wind you could hear a pin drop, lol!!!

Squirrels left and I thought I saw something in the brush behind my feeder so I was trying to scope out the situation!!!

I keep getting a strong smell of deer musk, but the wind is kinda swirling and hard to pin point where the smell is coming from!!!

A lot of cloud cover right now..... I need the sun to pop out for a while to get these deer up and moving!!!

Wow.... Just had a crow land on top of my metal roof of my stand, holy crap that was unexpected.... Ok, woo saa, woo saa, woooooossssaaaaa, saaaaaaaaaaa!!!

Ok, got 2 very loud and obnoxious crows and a squirrel around the feeder again!!!

I feel like I should be filming "Crows Gone Wild" out here!!!

had a bird fly in my stand one time, talk about freak me out.

Yeah the crows are black, pigs are black so I guess I could say I got miniature pigs that can fly???

spent 60 hrs (combined) one time in an east texas stand and saw one deer and 1 yote. I don't hunt there anymore.

Yeah, well at $350 a year it's about all I can afford! I could probably spend about $500 max on a lease membership, but I would have to know that the deer are there, ya know what I mean? I would like to join a lease closer to my home, but from what I've heard the leases toward/near my home are out of my price range!!!

I normally see deer here, but idk what's up with them now??? I know the sun needs to come out for starters..... Plus the wind is blowing 5-7mph with gusts up to about 10mph!!!

It may be late afternoon before or if I see anything!!!

Well, you have a better chance of seeing a deer than I do from where I'm sitting right now.

It's never a wasted day as I am doing what I love to do, but dang it, daddy needs some meat, lol!!!

I think I am going to get out at noon..... Only long enough to walk back up to the camphouse and get warm real quick, stretch my legs and get a warm drink, then I'll be right back in.... An hour, tops!!!

After walking to camp and looking for tracks along the way I came to the conclusion that the deer just haven't started moving yet today! Maybe a few here or there, but no significant movement at all so let's see where the rest of the days takes me?

That's right about what I pay on my East Texas lease too and yep, seeing or taking a deer can be a crap shoot but I guess I get what I pay for. So no luck today?

Sorry guys, yep, my battery finally took a dive, lol! I'm in a box stand today overlooking a feeder about 60yds out! No moon last night, no wind, sun is out, the deer should move around good today!!! We shall see what the good lord puts in front of me today! I will keep ya posted, just not quite as often, lol!!!

Yeah Curly, I feel your pain!!! My main problem is being out on the boat (work) for 20 days at a time and trying to depend on fellow hunters (family) to keep my feeders going! Even if I have corn at the camp it's like pulling teeth! And so during season I'm kinda left with 2 option; A., fill my feeders and put in fresh batteries and chance leaving my scent all over the place or B., hunt the feeders as is and hope it has enough corn and battery life to last my hunt!!!

Update!!! Just had 4 deer under the feeder, 2 big doe and 2 spikes

Deer are definitely moving this morning!!!

Yep Curly, my feelings exactly, lol! The damnedest thing though.... I shot at one of the spikes (cull) and as I was pulling the trigger he bolted!!! I'm gonna get out at noon and check for a deer, but I think it was a botched shot!!! I've never had a deer do that since I've been hunting, but the 2 does and other spike did come back so I may have a deer down!!! I'll confirm the suspicions at noon!!! It was 8:28am when they came out Curly....

sorry to hear about the miss happened to me last year I guess you could say (3 times was first tie I had shot rifle in a while and he was running) also was using a single shot break open .243
