A Food Plot Question

A Food Plot Question - 06/26/10 03:35 PM

I hunt on a 25 acre pine tree farm in cherokee county - very east texas. Recently, a 5-8 acre section was cleared, and of course the undergrowth has really come in. They cut in the perfect location to set up. My question is, do I need to clear off a bunch of the natural stuff and plant a food plot, or should I just supplement with blocks and a corn feeder starting around September?

I would clear about a 2 acre plot and plant it with oats and maybe some winter peas about the middle or last of Sept. The corn feeder will not hurt anything if you want to add it.

may want to make sure the area cut hasn't been replanted.
