Ridge Grappler or Toyo Open Country AT III

The Ridge Grapplers on my Rebel are over 40k and need to be changed. I also had a set on my '14 Mega and liked them there as well. Just for grins I poked around on 4Wheel Parts and found the Toyo Open Country AT III. If I get 4WP to match Amazon's price on the Grapplers, it's still about $150 more for the Grapplers. I'm also having to also buy a new set of Swampers for my K5, so $150 is worth it.

I really have no issues with my Grapplers and like them, I know some here don't care for them for some reason.... any issues/experience with the Toyo OC AT III?

No experience with the nitto, but running ATIII on wife's suburban since Feb. I love them. Awesome in the snow and Ice. Good off road

I’ve tried the Toyo’s and they didn’t give me very good tread life but the Graplers have been great so far. I have them on several trucks and I’ll stick with them until they stop living up to my expectations… The only problem I’ve found is thr hard to find but I’m sure you can round up a set…

Been through 1/2 dozen sets of Toyo AT2 on 3 last super duty’s. Usually got between 35-40k and pulling trailer about every day. The current set has 50k miles, maybe 20% towing. I’ve had no flats, that’s a major positive for me. They do ride a little rough, since they’re a 20” tire on F350.

This all day. I've got 52k on my STT Pros and it's just about time for a new set.

Cooper used to be my go to...great tires. My last Cooper sets cupped so bad that I pulled them off prior to them being worn out...ATP and Zeons. It'll be a LONG time before I try Cooper again.

I also bought a set of Ridge Grapplers...if it was wet, they were slicker than owl [censored]...I was tickled the day they left (sold truck prior to them being worn out).

Now I'm running Toyo RT's and Fury Hunter RT's...I've been happy with both but the Fury's have impressed me the most (they are on a 4 door Jeep)...they are a little quieter than the Toyo's.

So based upon your two listed...I'd pick the Toyos.

I have had both on the same truck. The RG's gave me 60K on a half ton but got real noisy at about 40K. I now have about 10K on the AT3's and really like them, I spend more time on the highway so my value is in the noise or lack of. The RG's were a better off road tire.

Between my brother and I (both F350 cc diesel 4x4's), we have run the Toyo AT2's with really good results. Even wear as long as you rotate and good wet traction. Held up well to pulling a trailer. No complaints with a 40k mileage per set. I've had too many other sets that give out.

Haven't tried the AT3's yet.

Just replaced a set of Toyo AT2’s yesterday with a set of AT3’s. Got 51,00 miles with 30% tread left on the AT2’s on my F350cc 4x4. Hoping for the same results on the AT3’s.

My current set of coopers are just starting to cup a little as well, but with 35000 miles on them and I just rotated them for the first time last night Im still more than happy with them. Tons of tread left.

Got 78k out of my AT2's. Went with RT's on this set because I wanted a little more aggressive. They ride pretty quiet and happy with them so far, plus I like the tread pattern on the Toyo's better than Nitto's.

I’ve got a little over 50,000 miles on a set of 35 inch Ridge Grapplers on my ‘14 Ram 2500. They are cupping bad, have been for the past 5,000 miles. They are requiring way more balancing a lot more often, and are in general just a trash tire since day one.

I had Toyo tires on my F250 but they didn’t last long got cut up by rocks and they were loud. Replaced with Cooper ST Maxx love them on my second set, they’re quieter, smoother and have yet to get cut by rocks. I like the look of the Toyos but they just didn’t work for me. Have no experience with Grapplers.

Been real happy with my Toyo ATIII. Ride good, quiet for an A/T. Lots of rubber left with 35000 miles on them.

I just bought some Toyo AT3’s. My reasoning was the weight advantage. Weight makes a huge difference on things that spin.

Adding my 2 cents. I have run BFG's and Nitto's, now running Yokohama Geolanders on F-250 Super Duty. Best I have ever had by far.

I had a set of Yokohama mud terrains on my last truck and I was damn impressed. Great tire

I've run Toyo's and Nitto's for the last 3 trucks and have zero complaints so I would be indifferent. Ridge Grappler if you were going to spend time off road. AT3 if all highway. My AT2's were great tires on my f250 so long as the grass wasn't wet

Toyo AT2s are great on longevity, but suck on wet roads. I just tried a second set thinking the first set might have been a fluke. It wasn't. Getting that truck moving from a stop on a wet road is a chore with these tires, especially if you're on in incline, or trying to turn left through traffic in a hurry. As long as they last and as well as they hold up, I probably won't buy them again. No input on the AT3s. I was going to try them last time but they didn't make the size I needed....they had just come out and were limited.

Nitto has a new tire called the Recon that comes with a mileage warranty. Might be worth looking into.

I was set on the at3’s until I couldn’t get the size I wanted. I hate nitttos with a passion, had all 3 of the grapplers with terrible results on all of them. Ridge grapplers are the 6.5 creedmoor of the tire world.

I am 1,000 miles in on some master craft courser cxt’s in a 37/12.5r20. So far so good, they didn’t have that crazy walking period when they were new like the nittos did for me.

I ran Master Craft Coursers back in 2004 on a Chevy Duramax, heck of a tire for being an “all-terrain” and they lasted a long time with regularly towing 8-12k.

Just took a 4,000 mile round trip to Montana with a new set of Toyo AT3 on my F350. Had no issues, did a lot of hiway driving, both wet and dry. Lots of gravel roads, and some of it after a good rain. I’ve got no complaints, they seem a little softer than the AT2 I’ve run in the past.

I have the Toyo AT2’s. Love them. Quiet ride well and if you rotate every oil change they last. If the 3’s are better that’s awesome.

I have the at3s on my frontier and they're great. At the time simple tire had a good refer a friend option, and I got a buddy to refer me. Discount matched it.

Running the ATIII 's for 35 K miles. Tire has been great & holding up well.

Gonna put my second set of Ridge Grapplers on the Tundra in a couple of weeks.

I just bought another set of Ridge Grapplers... easier just to stay with what I had. $395 each off of Amazon, had them installed at Discount Tire where they give you a break on install/balance if you buy them there. Ultimately it probably cost me a few $ more to do the Amazon buy vs Discount Tire where the tires were higher by $30 or so each.

Make sure you check all your prices before you buy.

I've taken crazy online prices on no name trailer tires in there and they'll match it with a name brand if they have to.
