Kubota RTV900???

I have an older ('07?) RTV900 that I recently had a full service done. After a few hours of running, I have a warning light that came on ... Any of you with RTV900 have a service manual or know what this light is trying to tell me???



I've checked fluid levels and all appear to be well within where they should be.

I think I found out over on another forum, including links to downloadable shop manual. Appears to be low oil pressure ...

From looking at my manuals, that's the Engine oil pressure light.

Here's the paragraph from the operator manual:
Engine oil pressure
If the oil pressure in the engine goes below the prescribed level, the warning lamp in the Easy Checker(TM) will come on.
If this should happen during operation, and it does not go off when the engine is accelerated, check level of engine oil.
(See "Checking Engine Oil Level" in "DAILY CHECK" in "PERIODIC SERVICE" section.)

thanks, I checked all the levels and they appear fine ... I hate troubleshooting gremlins that show up shortly after someone worked on something

Check the oil pressure sending unit plug

yep, will be doing a pretty close inspection on Friday trying to get to the bottom of this. Any of ya'll that have Kubota equipment, I have found a wealth of knowledge at orange tractor talks forum ...

That light on our JD is the oil pressure light.

nope, no knocking ... just the light appeared, surprised I noticed it really. Will dive into it Friday or Saturday to figure it out. I normally do all the service work on my tractors and RTV but just didn't have the time on this one after MLD3 season wrapped up ... ha, but guess i have time now (will make time anyway) to figure out what this gremlin is that cropped up after probably less than 1 hour on the hour meter since service was done. Hoping maybe the wire off the oil pressure switch got bumped and came off when they were servicing (fingers crossed) but I am not typically that lucky

This is about all you can do, except change the oil filter, without opening it up. Had the same problem with the 445 rebuild. Instant oil pressure light on first startup. We had left the spring out of the oil pressure pop off valve.

Try swapping the oil filter. Only shot you got except a bad OP sensor. And we all know it can not be that easy.

will report back what I find ... will be Friday or Saturday before I can get to it.

update ... on Friday I checked all the wiring and all appeared to be attached. I removed and thoroughly cleaned all the contacts, light was still on. I pulled the oil pressure sensor/switch and took into the dealer to see if they had a way to test. Nope but was told that was a common issue. I bought a new sensor ($35) and installed it ... light still on. Grrrr... I loaded it up and took into the dealer to have them check it out, should hear back by mid week on what they find.

I think I would have installed a mechanical gauge when you pulled out the old sensor and then the new one still did not solve the problem. At least then you could have sen if it was an engine problem or not.

dealer called late last week, said that the oil pressure light in the dash was actually not right, said after troubleshooting, they realized the alternator was bad, only putting out ~2 volts ... and the light in the dash was wired incorrectly and should have been wired to the low voltage dash light. After a brief conversation, the said a new alternator was going to be $360 . ... and there was also a fuel leak coming from a cracked fuel delivery line, total was going to be over $870. ... I said thanks, do NOT repair, I will pick up later this week and fix it myself. I ordered a NEW (not rebuilt) alternator online yesterday for $74 with free shipping. It should be in late this week or early next. I'll take a closer look at the fuel leak and figure that one out too on my own. I will update again once I get the new alternator installed.

new alternator arrived, not sure I will have time to install prior to our mission trip, but will update sometime soon

update ... got the new alternator installed, dash light went off. Took about 30 minutes to remove old and install new. that part is good to go.

on to the fuel leak ... I had ordered replacement fuel lines (3 small hoses, a T and 6 little bent wire spring hose clamps, $40 ) removed old and replaced with new ... still has a leak where it attaches to the #1 injector. Off to the parts house to buy regular fuel hose and real clamps ... found the hose, but no clamps small enough other than some cheesy injector clamps. removed new OEM hose assembly I had just installed and replaced with heavier hose and clamps. still has a leak ... appears to be a hairline crack in the nipple on the over flow pipe assembly that connects all 3 injectors. about a $30 part that I will get ordered today. The saga continues

got the new over flow pipe assembly, disassembled injector lines and top portion of the injectors, finally got down to the flow pipe assembly and removed ... noticed the small washer with 2 tiny little pass thru ports, the #1 cylinder looked different than the other 2. removed and found the little port washer was deformed and I highly suspected that is where the leak actually was. Back to dealer, they didn't have in stock and I could get online with 3 day free shipping for $1.50, so ordered 2 and re-assembled everything back to original since I knew it would be a couple of weeks before I could work on it again. I finally had time over the weekend to put in the new washer ... disassembled again, replaced #1 cylinder washer, put on the new over flow pipe assembly, reassembled the injectors, lines and then back with the little hoses that attach the over flow pipe to the injector pump and return lines. tightened all the clamps (finally found small hose clamps at O'Reilly) and fired it up. No more leaks, whooohooo!!! Took the grandkids on a ride around the neighborhood and around out place, checked again, everything operating as it should. Finally!

so about a total of 2-2.5 hours and under $100 in parts saved me about $750 at the dealership and I know it's fixed right. It just took me a month and a half to get it all done. From here on out, I will be doing the fluid/filter service work myself again...
