Here's a pic of my new Mule Pro-Fx w/EPS. Have a winch, brush guard and rear bumper on the way. Thinking of making my own roof.

You’ll love it

Before making your own roof , make sure the windshield you want will work with it

Not sure if I want a windshield, but would be nice in the winter, Thermos don't work through a windshield. Would have to go with a fold down version. thinking of doing something like this in the bed. http://www.delriopowersports.com/--kawasaki-ranch-package

I would get a fold down then - will freeze your rear off otherwise IMO - I do not like being cold! LOL

The windshield will protect against wind and most important rain. There are several flip up ones.

Should be some examples at the trophy hunters shows next month

A good roof and window are the most important things I’ve done

In Texas, a good roof for shade trumps a windshield!

You might consider making your own roof.
Here is one I did for my old Mule.
I extended in over front/rear for more shade!
I welded 4 race car tabs on roll cage to mount it and it has 3/4" exterior plywood roof/floor painted with porch paint so it will live.

It serves multiple duties around the ranch and race track.
1st and most important it's a nice big roof for shade for my old butt!
2nd it's a rack to hold ladders, boards, stand legs, etc.
3rd, it's a deck. I stand on it to fill feeders. I stand on it at the races and carry extra tires. It has stake pockets on all 4 corners and I put a chair up there and varmint hunt from it. I use it like a portable scaffold when working on blinds, tree stands, etc.

This one is a utility rack and while fully functional, it's not real purty but I'm sure somebody could fab something up for you that would complement that fine ride.

Ouote "In Texas, a good roof for shade trumps a windshield"

Then you have never driven to or from your stand in a rainstorm with no windshield during the winter - no fun

A windshield in the winter and none in the summer.

At this point in my life, hunting ain't that important...but when it was, I walked...and it was uphill both ways!
In all seriousness, I do use it year around if it's not raining so shade wins for me.

Thank you Sir!
Just not quite as indestructible as I was 40-50 years ago.
Hunted pretty much everything I have desired to and about the only thing that gets me out there anymore is hunting pigs at night.

bought a vinyl rollup windshield for when needed, will make a roof after reading the reviews about the stock roof. (Water dumping on your lap if no windshield). The roof is the most important in SE TX, also brush guard and rear bumper are installed along with the 4500lb winch, also added 6" KC LED Spot lights. 2 gun upright just arrived, so need to install it along w/horn kit and 4 aux. fuse block for side, cargo, under bed light.

I like that top Vern 1. The top that came on my 2016 DX will keep the rain off you but if you are not careful the front lip will give you a bath now and then. I'm going to look into building one like yours. Thanks for the idea!

What good does a windshield do in a rain storm if you don't have a roof? confused2

You gotta have both.

Depends on how fast you go.

Got caught in a few rain storms in my Jeep with no top and no doors. Somewhere between 30-35mph is where the rain stops coming in from the top but 50ish is where it starts wrapping around the door opening and coming in

A couple things I find lacking on my 2016 DX are the springs and the lack of skid plate protection. The HD springs offered by Kawasaki are much better and I did a little modification to the pitiful excuse that came from the factory skid plate and it is some better. I like the machine very much but it's hard to believe they sell something that people are likely to take off road with that poorly engineered and flimsy skid plate. I'm looking at building something myself to protect the underbelly before I head to west Texas again.

90% of the time, its hot and I need the breeze. Windshield is laying next to a tree in camp.

I have a windshield that folds in the middle. Let’s in breeze, not enough to blow my hat off.
