Sprayer for UTV

Sprayer for UTV - 03/09/12 03:41 PM

Does anybody use a sprayer that will mount on UTV or ATV, If so what would you recommend? I've seen them at TSC and Northern tool but don't know if these are good? I'm thinking I need at least a 25 gallon spot sprayer and I can build the boom for it later. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

Ive got a 60 gallon sprayer on a trailer that you can pull behind a utv or lawn tractor that I bought at TSC that works excellent. It has a built in foldable boom also.

I just bought a 60 gallon sprayer that fits in the back of my Kubota two seater. It has a broadcast sprayer nozzle that works super good. Both units also have the hand held spray gun. I'am very pleased with the operation of both units and would recomend them.

I just strap the 25 gal TSC unit on the back of my 4-wheeler and use the wand. But adding a spray bar wouldn't be that hard. It all depends on where you're using it and how much area you have to cover.

I use a 25 gal sprayer on my polaris ranger. What you need to think about though is the pump and/or what you are going to use it for. The une that I have I got several years ago from Northern Tool. I also bought a boom a year or so latter. My pump supplies about 2gpm at 60 psi works well for the boom and the hand held sparyer. Keep in mind all we are talking about is a plastic tank, hose, wand and pump. This is why I say think of the pump. They are only made by a few companies all good and can be upgraded for about 125.00 if needed.
What I did and strongly suggest is to do is to run a 14ga. wire from your battery or switch box to a toggle/rocker switch and then take it back to the area that you will be using your sprayer, leave yourself about 4-5 ft of slack and connect a twoway pigtail that way you can flip a switch to turn your sprayer on without leaving your seat. This works great when using a boom. I have power going to both front and back of mu unit. I installed a 2" reciever up front for my road feeder and turn it on and of by the switch. I would also suggest in the event you do get a boom to install a commom "Y" splitter with valves like you would use for running two sprinklers. This way you can close the valve to the boom and use the hand help or open the boom and turn it on and off by the switch. This is chead and once you are "wired up" you will wonder how you did without it.

GOOD LUCK

I wish I would have taken a pic of the mule at our ranch last weekend, it has a spray bar rigged up on the brush guard up front controlled with a switch near the driver side seat handle. Seems to work really well for spraying mesquite, the only thing I would've done different is put it on the back so it doesn't spray the undercarriage.

I got a 15 gal sprayer with a wand with about 15ft of hose from
Harbor Freight for about $65 and use it with my lawn mower in the
little red wagon..it would work on the rear of an ATV and is probably cheaper..I've had it about three years and no problems..
I try to kill the Bull Nettles...but still end up using a hoe sometimes..DD

We have 600 acres of rough land in Erath Co that we spray, matter of fact the only thing we don't spray are the rocks & boulders. We use both Mule and ATVs with a trailer towed behind and have been satisfied with the 25 gal unit from TSC for spraying mesquite, cacti, willows, and others. I have a private applicators license and the chemicals we have used are quite varied.
