BIG OLE BUCKET OF FISH

BIG OLE BUCKET OF FISH - 05/16/23 11:27 PM

Made a quick trip out to the lake this afternoon with Dad. Winds were suppose to be anywhere from "light" to "5-10mph" depending on what forecast you pay attention to. Well they got that wrong!!! We got out there and there was no way to Crappie fish at first so we pull up to a windy point that I know the Shad like to spawn on and on my second cast I caught a Sandbass. For about the next 2 hours we caught them nearly every cast and tossed some of the biggest ones in the livewell before going to find some Crappie.

The wind had started to let up just about the time we found our first big school of Crappie and it was just incredible the number of fish that were there. Once you got your jig to that magic depth it was going to hit every time, the only question was if it was going to be a keeper or not. We wore that spot out and then went looking for some more. Sure enough we found another huge school of Crappie but the wind was killing us. This school had much bigger fish but I was having trouble standing on the front deck due to how rough it was. I have no doubt we would have pulled a 2 man limit off that spot but I just couldnt control the boat well enough to stay on them so we had to throw in the towel.

Before we left I wanted to hit one deep water Bass spot so we pulled up to it and I caught a 5 fish limit in 6 casts. LOL! (Of course I let them go.) I really hated to go home because it seemed like we could do no wrong with the fish today but I had enough of fighting the wind so we left with a mix of 64 Crappie and Sandbass. It was an incredible few hours but it had the potential be one of the best ever had the wind let me stay on that one group of Crappie.

Pretty sure there was another TFF/THF'er out there today. If you were the in the Blue Wave boat trying to speak to us I apologize but I couldnt hear a word you were saying. I heard you say something about Cedar Creek but that was all I heard. Between the wind and waves and me being half deaf I just couldnt hear.

No livescope. No plans to get it either unless the price comes down more in line with other electronics.

No need to get one if you can fish like that; but it is a absolute game changer with people with less skills. Especially in a new lake or when the bite is not on.
