Looks like tight lines and a good time. Wild Bill is taking out Grant, Camo and Crack this afternoon and tomorrow morning. I could not make it. Watch out for Grant.

Have more big fun!

Some nice fish there!

Is that a high fence section? By the size of the fish it sure seems like it up

Pure greatness both of you you know. To handle big drum. I have found. That you can fillet. The fillet them by starting at. The tail and cutting toward the head . Pull the fillet over the head breathing lode the rib bones as you go. Some cut out the throats a made a delicious stew.

Good stuff. Enjoy!

A lot of people say that bull reds are no good to eat. Those people have never had one cooked whole on the pit with butter, onions, garlic, & lemon.

They are a lot of fun indeed. Those big blacks are a lot of fun too, especially with light tackle.

Yep, they be running. These two were on at the same time. Supposedly caught one 46 incher - a real thumper.

Hook up on one in murky waist to chest deep water for an added rush. It always gets my pulse going a little quicker until I get them in close enough to definitively say, "Yeah, ok; that's 'just' a red."

Yea and all up and down the cut. Wild Bill I noticed still uses an anchor. He can't stay in the middle of all those boats when they bunch up. We took some of the redfish fillets to Sharkeys tonight and had them cook them for dinner.

That's a bomber of a redfish. Anchor duty sucks, but wish I had been able to go.

Thanks so much for the boat photo. I texted it to the guys and made them super paranoid.

A photo like this one indicates there were four of these guys on at one time. By any account, that would be classified as a reel rodeo!

Day 3 a little tougher fishing. Was a full moon. But we caught a few. Lots of variety and put some keepers in the boat.

Once we got through the fog day 4 turned into an offshore day in Waterworld fishing around the abandoned Atoll. My personal best 34 inch Red Snapper and one of the biggest Mangrove Snapper I have ever caught. Something really big I could not turn and it broke my 65lb Suffix braid.

Re: Year 3 Day 1 POC fishing adventure has begun - 10/23/21 06:41 PM

No fishing today 😕
Don't look like we are going to get a break from the rain. One more fishing day left then it's back to hunting season. I can see the POC fishing pier from where I am at and looks like everyone that was out fishing on it was grouped together holding up one big tarp over themselves. Gonna be bad if a lightning strike hits them.

Day 6 and done, back home. Had a fish nearly strip my reel then it stopped and I pulled in a half a drum after the big shark that was running away with it finally bit on through it. Brought a lot of small sharks to the boat too today. Now back to hunting season. [Linked Image]

We did not keep any of the Black Drum. I originally was not going to keep any fish at all from this trip. I had kept and ate so much from last years trip, the wife and I wanted a break from the Reds. Still, I ended up tagging and keeping one of the smaller Bulls only because we were unable to revive it. And the Snappers from the rig were an unplanned surprise so I ended up keeping those too. My friends kept some keeper Reds and other odd fish like trout and pompano, but there was no love for the Big Uglies.
