these Savage 22hp bullets have not been made for at least 30yrs, 1200 pcs, plus another 400 of hornady 70gr .227 diameters, I should go buy a lottery ticket [Linked Image]

Other than being old what makes them special? Are they designed for a particular/special rifle?
I don't know much about Savage except I'd love to own a .300 or 250-3000 with the brass round counter.
Thanks

Re: mother lode - 08/19/21 12:17 AM

the Savage 22hp was introduced in 1912, 70gr .227 diameter bullet, was a big hit, is very similar to the 25-35, the 30-30 can be necked down to reload, I have lot of brass, now I can pass on 3 Savage 22hp's with bullets to grandsons, also have a 22hp over 16ga.[Linked Image]
this is one of two that are take downs, the third is solid receiver

My youngest nephew harvested his first deer when he was 7 with my Savage 99 with Stith mounts and 2.5 Weaver in 22 Savage High Power that was I believe 14 years ago. Remember it like it was yesterday always love a chance to show off the picture.

James, thats great, I had a 22hp several years ago, sold it, then wished I hadn't, looked for 12years, found one, then in less than a week found two more, one is solid receiver (very rare) also have a 22hp over a 16ga thats neat, need to shoot some paper to see how it does. now have plenty of bullets to reload.
