2019 Buck back from Taxi - 07/07/21 03:58 AM
Was an amazing hunt at the tail end of 2019. I remember starting this weekend off thinking I wasn't going to go after any antlers, and was focused on getting rid of one pesky spike buck. Hunted all of that Saturday minus a quick run into town to get some caffeine. Evening hunt I took a doe. Sunday started early and I was watching the edge of a wheat field all morning. Never saw the spike buck I was after. That Sunday evening hunt I went out around 2pm to try my luck at a different blind I had seen that spike near before. After a few turkeys pecked around, some does and typical bucks came out around the feeder and through some of the crossings. Lo and behold the next thing I see was this big guy casually walking out from the tree line. I've been hunting most of my life and I can tell you for a fact that I was shaking and excited with what I had in front of me about 120 yards out. I remember telling myself to calm down. Take things slow. Then next thing I know I'm walking out to get pictures.
Sadly, would have scored amazing except he's non-typical and he's got a broken G1.
He's certainly not the biggest we have seen out on our place either.
