Killed this big ole snake last weekend. It didn’t die without a fight. All non venomous snakes get a pass from me, but anything that’s venomous goes to snake heaven. In that pic he had already taken 3 9mm rat shot rounds and that big rock.

I understand killing a rattler around your house are hunting camp.
Why do you kill them out in open country?
It is a good thing they have good cammo

I'm with you Big Joe. If I let a rattler get by me and that snake were to later bite a friend or family member, I would never be able to forgive myself. Never.

2.5 days after the bite

8 days after the bite.....I don't think anyone here would want to see the pics of my veterinarian cousin scaping all the dead meat out of her leg the day before this!

a little over 3 weeks after the bit

Still have questions why every damn one of them gets sent to hell that I see?

There are plenty of good snakes out there to do the same damn job these devils do without hurting people and animals! I would have a grin from ear to ear if the damn things went extinct 100% tomorrow!

Sorry displaced, I'm with Hudbone and Big Joe too. I actually like snakes. I like rat snakes, DB Water Snakes, King snakes, Hog nose snakes, etc. Copperheaded rattle moccasins do not get a pass anywhere on my property. We stomp around all 250 acres and have kids that like to roam too. For me it is just a matter of reducing the possibility of getting a venomous bite. I do not begrudge anyone that wants to relocate the venomous ones. That is their prerogative on their property. My neighbor will kill anything and everything that slithers on his place. I so wish he'd leave the good ones alone, so I understand your stance. But then again, that is his prerogative and his property. He can do as he wishes.

I killed this one last year in late June on my place I had in Goliad County. I had owned that place since May 2012 and never had seen any rattlesnakes till that day. My neighbor to the north had owned his place for over 25 yrs and finally saw his first rattlesnake about 6 months earlier around Christmas time. This snake in the pics below was probably only a little over 5' long. I had seen snakes on the highway and county roads within a couple of miles of my place, just never on my place till that day.

Another reason is so they don't stand a chance of getting around my house or hunting camp.

Good reason to put your dog through the snake breaking clinic. It is better to have it and not need it, than ton need it and not have it.
