CINCO D MAYO FISHUN

Made a late afternoon trip to the lake. First spot where we caught them a few days ago had to much current so we ran as far away from the main lake channel as we could get. The spot where we caught them today is usually dead by 1pm but we still managed to whack them pretty good for just a short trip. Brought home 40 with a few Sandbass and 2 catfish mixed in. Average size was WAY bigger than a few days ago! We had 5 true giants! Big baits were the key today. As you can see in the one pic the shad they were feeding on were 4.5”-5” long. Not exactly your typical crappie forage.

Great day of fishing it appears. And my favorite fish to go after.

Thanks guys. It never gets old having something tug on the end of your line. Its even better when its a good fish to eat.

Today we made another trip out there and took one of Dads life long friends along. Of course the Crappie didnt really want to cooperate so in order to show him a good time we decided to check on of my Sandbass spots before heading back. I had been telling him they should be stacking up there all day as they leave the creeks and boy were they ever stacking up!!!! We pulled up and dropped the trolling motor and the graph lit up. I smiled and said they are here. Within a minute we were all 3 hooked up and of course all the boats decided to crowd us. We proceeded to catch over 200 fish while the other boats continued to get closer and closer but they refused to speak so I refused to tell them why they were not catching them. We ended up sending Dads friend home with a mixed bag of 48 Crappie and Sandbass. Next few days look pretty windy so will probably quit picking on the little fishys for a few days.
