Saved this little doe from a slow death - 12/29/20 08:28 PM

Found this little doe hung up in the fence by her back leg. Luckily we were able to get her free and set her loose safe and sound. [Linked Image]

Feels good to do a good deed, up

I have gotten 2 bucks out of similar situations. one was a little button buck that behaved very well and he hung out in that pasture for several weeks, upped the amount the feeder was throwing otu and opened the feed pen by removing one panel. The first one was a small 4pt, threw a heavy blanket over him and flipped him over the fence, he ran off seemingly good to go, the next week the same buck was dead in the fence in the same place. I just delayed what would happen.

Good job! Had to do the same thing on our back fence a few years ago. Stayed clear of the hoofs though. You are a braver man than me!

Great job, sir. I set a young buck free from a similar situation some years back, but it was apparent he had been there most of the night. The wire had cut him to the bone and he was exhausted. We were on our way to town when we found him and continued on our way after freeing him. I had to goose him to get him to move off after the release but he only went about 10 yards and laid back down. We let him be and went on to town. We checked on him an hour or two later on our way back and found him dead right where we left him.

Good on ya for taking care of the critters. up

Bless your heart. A friend and I were quail hunting west of Graham years ago. One showed up with a. Red ribbon around her neck. She followed us all morning. Tried to get the dogs to play.

She was kicking and raising all kinds of hell when I walked up. Then she just calmed down and I was able to pick her up and my girlfriend was able to free her foot. Pretty cool moment!
