Graham’s first deer - 11/16/20 02:23 PM
My middle child Graham was up this weekend after his brother connected youth weekend. He’s been my good luck charm over the last several seasons. I’ve killed 3 target bucks and my best turkey with Graham by my side, but this was his weekend and was on doe patrol. Baylor county, 90 yards, 6.5 grendel 123 gr ELD.. and she didn’t move a muscle. Lots of high fives, smiles, and hugs... and that’s what it’s all about in my eyes. This kid was pumped!
That’s two deer this season with that caliber that have dropped in their tracks. I’m really impressed with it.
As far as the rut goes, bucks have finally separated, young bucks trying to run does, big bucks showing their dominance trying to run all the other boys off.
On another note, I nearly stepped on a 4ft’er (maybe closer to 5) opening the gate. He got away before I could take care of it, but I know where he lives now. Be careful out there.. serpents are still on the move.
