G.W.’s First Buck - 11/10/20 02:06 AM
He was pretty fired up! The buck wasn’t much but was the only deer seen at three blinds this weekend.I’ll be honest and say I thought he was a big doe when he walked up to get a drink at last legal light. The boy made a great shot, center neck with my 223 and he didn’t take a step at 125. I asked if he knew it was a buck when he squeezed the trigger. He said hek yes I knew it was a buck, that’s why I aimed so long. We usually make the first buck into all jerky but I put back a few bags of fry meat on this tender little dude. G.W. said it was the best weekend he’d ever had at the Farm. It was a great time. I remember getting that excited, I hope all of you do too.

That's good stuff right there! That's what it's all about.
I was hoping my little boy could shoot his 2'nd deer this morning, but the fog and the cows were thick. It was hard to see, but I was 90% ready to hand him the rifle a time or two...was trying to put positive ID on a deer in the fog and the cows were either in front of or behind every time that deer came out. No safe shot & no positive ID, wasn't meant to be.
It was weird, looking at that deer and thinking about my Son shooting him got me pretty pumped up. A little buck fever. I always get more excited with kids. I guess some things never change LOL.
