That is a big snake. You need a longer snake grabber.

Females have more black and white bands on the tail. It’s been awhile, but I believe males have 3-4 and females have 5-6. Something like that.

Actually, it's probably a male. Males are bigger than females and have longer tails. He was a big one, pics didn't do him justice but that's as close as the wife would get. roflmao

Over the past 12 years, that makes about 20 I've relocated from just around that one container. One day I got 5 from around it.

If you got 5 from around it, I bet there are twice that many under it. Sure glad we don't have them in East Texas.

Creek, for you to learn, and me too, then somebody has got "to teach." Thank goodness we got plenty "teachers" on here.

I’ve never heard that regarding sex but have between species. Western diamondbacks have 5-7 bands on their tail whereas southern pacific rattlesnakes only have 3-4....

Westerners have more of a “bad” attitude, but the venom of the southern pacific is a nastier cocktail.....

I was wrong, after a little digging it’s the Mojave and not the southern pacific I was thinking of....I don’t have my snake book with me.

Re: Relocated - 11/03/20 02:32 AM

Big ole snake.
Glad you relocated it.
I caught and relocated 4 this year.
3 from my fenced backyard.
1 from my front yard.
But they were all little guys.
Accidentally ran over another one with the lawnmower.
