Hill Country 12

Hill Country 12 - 10/21/20 10:37 PM

'Pretty sure. (Left G5 is hidden, I think, in this pic.) I had him once on camera at the Windmill, and now at a feeder just north of there. He ain't no south Texas twelve, but still, a rare sighting for the hill country. (I never really considered Junction/Menard "hill country", but I'm warming to the idea. grin )

I'm 60, been hunting since I was 11, hunted a few western states and have also hunted Zimbabwe and Mozambique. 'Never killed a 12pt. WT. 'Got my youngest a 13 point though, many years ago, and I remember it like it was yesterday. (Sisterdale.) This boy gives me inspiration to keep hammering the does! rifle deer banana

That's a really nice Menard/Kimble County buck. I love the dark antlers, good mass and point length. Years ago, there was a book deer killed on the Spiller Ranch which is very close to you. If memory serves me correctly, it was taken in the 1980's by a fellow by the name of Jones.
Adios,
Gary

Thanks all! I hope to build this place back from the previous owner's "beer lease". grin (And I do find old beer cans all OVER the place, in the oddest spots.)

That's surprising, as I hear Zim is full of main frame 12 Whitetails....... grin

I would shoot that deer.....I've only seen 2 mainframe 12's on the hoof in my life, both on very well managed hf ranches. Thats a true trophy you have there
