23 point and a pig

23 point and a pig - 10/19/20 03:51 PM

We had a good weekend. My buddy shot this weird 23 point deer. He drilled it at about 23 yards and it ran about 150 yards. It took about an hour to find. 2 weeks ago, he shot under the same deer. If you look at the under side of the deer, you can see the slight cut under his shoulder.

My daughter shot her first pig with the Tikka 223 bolt gun. She was really excited about it. It was my first trip this year to break away and hunt some.

Yes, near Breckenridge. There is another one just like him on camera, but smaller. I'm not sure what's going on with all the cluster of points. He was 11 on one side and 12 on the other. There were multiple small points you could hang a ring on.

Shot placement was real good. The deer was quartering towards him some, and exit was about mid way back, and caught the front of the stomach. Blood trail was good, just small drops to follow.

Thank ya'll so much! It was good to get away for the weekend.

To bad your not on a place where you could have let that buck walk for a couple years. It looks like one of my buddy's 1.5 year old brood bucks. Those are possibly from the brood bucks that escaped the wildfires a few years back?

Yes, near Caddo.

Here's the action shot from the game camera. We found this after looking at pics. She broke both shoulders and the pig snow plowed for 30 yards. Kind of cool.

That's awesome the young lady is now a certified hog hunter. Congratulations, now get some more.

Nice horns to your buddy. I can see why the first shot was a little un-nerving.
