689 yards, holy cow!
I was lucky enough to get one corralling does and chasing off younger bucks. He was so busy that I got to 220 yards.

It's always nice to drop one in their tracks, especially a speed goat

"Butt then chin, no tracking." -My personal favorite! Wish you had a video to go along with the picture...although you would've needed a Phone Skope at 689 yards. Congrats.

Re: Marfa Pronghorn - 10/18/20 01:58 PM

Thank you everyone.

Yesterday, I cut a backstrap into 1/2" steaks, then hit them with the tenderizer mallet. Chicke fried the goat, as well as some whitetail. The general consensus was the goat was better. Who would've thought?

Way to go JG. What happened to the stash? I think antelope is better than WT.

I’ve heard it’s really good and I’ve heard it’s really bad. I think it’s because pronghorn season is early and typically warm. Proper field care leads me to believe that it’s a good meat that just needs a little extra diligence due to weather.

Re: Marfa Pronghorn - 10/19/20 02:42 AM

Congrats on the speed goat, the couple pronghorn I have killed were to me no doubt better tasting than whitetail deer, I figured it was in part the diet, the goats were in alfalfa alfalfa shot

Re: Marfa Pronghorn - 10/19/20 03:47 PM

Hell of a shot!

Ive eaten some pronghorn back in college, one of my roomates had a bunch, they werent real wild about it, i thought it was every bit as good as whitetail or better.

Did the eldx go all the way through at that distance?

Re: Marfa Pronghorn - 10/19/20 05:22 PM

No exit.

Sure would have appreciated a closer shot. But it all worked out fine.
