Proud Day For My Son - 10/01/20 03:21 AM

He took this beautiful shot of his very first WDB. His love of pitvipers went up several notches after this encounter.

Well that's not a good reason to hate snakes, especially one as iconic as the WDB. The dog was probably chasing it and it was defending itself. A real Old Man and The Sea type of scenario. Hopefully your dog is fine now and I'm sure he will stay far from a WDB in the future.

You are kidding, right?
The dog was probably chasing it?
No, the dog was running and the snake struck and hit the dog...she never saw it. And she wouldn't have survived it except for the fact that she'd been vaccinated, been bitten once before, and my cousin is one hell of a Vet!

I will kill every damn one I see including those I catch crossing the road even if I have to go in the ditch after one to skid on it!

There are plenty of good snakes out there and those all get a free pass at our place!

It’s a great pic, that snake would be dead if I had come across it

Yes sir, she recovered thanks to some great care. I posted a topic on it here a few months back with progression pictures for everyone to see just how bad rattlesnake bites are on dogs and to create more awareness for folks to get their dogs vaccinated. If she had not been vaccinated there is no way she would have survived it.

The link to the story and the pictures of what she went through is below. Anyone who can look at that and then tell me the good outweighs the bad with rattlesnakes is FOS!

That rattlesnake vaccine is cheap insurance; my Aussie got them every year because he might not chase a rattler, but he'd sure get in its face.

Back to the OP, that is indeed a very nice picture!!

Yes sir
I believe it is under $40 a dose!

Bites to the face typically do not kill a dog provided it does not shut down their breathing....but it's sure ugly.
