Very nice young 8, I wonder what he will look like in a few years.

I agree but curious what makes you say that. The white around the eyes does it for me since he doesn’t have a saggy brisket.

I'd say middle-aged, maybe 4-5. Knees are clean, not a lot of brisket or gut, but a solid mature or near-mature deer.

The size of his tarsal gland, the knobby knees, the white around his eyes, this dished or cupped forehead, loose skin flap under his jaw, the all white fringe hair on the inside of his ears, he appears to be setting down on his hooves.... are the ones that I see immediately. He is at least a 5 yr old and may be really old.

He looks 5.5-6.5 to me, not young by a long shot.

IF I had that kind of dedication, I'd have a set of six pack abs......... waiting 4 years would be tough. BUT probably worth it.

Re: Check out this 8 point - 09/21/20 10:21 AM

That is one solid 8. If the date is correct, wonder why he's still in velvet? Maybe he's so old, he'll never shed it and it'll dry hard & turn black. That would make a nice trophy mount.

Beautiful 8 but I'm seeing a mature deer, maybe post mature, not a young one.

Not young at all. Frontal pics are the worst for aging and almost always shows a young, trim deer. You have to look at other clues. His face screams older deer and some other things mentioned.

He is at least 5 and personally I would not let an 8 like that walk by me........
