Caught this little one laid up right next to the garden fence a couple of days ago.

Great pic. Always great to see the newborns.

It is amazing how much their bit of camo makes them invisible in grass and brush. I was shredding along front fence a couple of years ago, the grass was no more than a foot high and I was looking intently ahead to make sure I did not snag the wire with my bucket. At one point a fawn jumped straight up - adjacent to my head and the rear tire of the tractor, bleeted, and scrambled across and over me. Scared the bejeezus out of me, but fawn appeared to be fine as it sprinted to the trees. To this day I do not know how I didn't hit it with the bucket or front tire. The good news is it was gone before the shredder found it. That would have been a mess.

Pretty cool when they hide like that.

Thanks for the kind words.
It was one of those perfect moments when I actually had my camera and could capture the photo.
I walked within 10 feet of it before I saw it, slowly backed away to about 30 feet and zoomed in for the picture.

Have one in my side yard right now in a thicket. Ranch is being developed behind me and has displaced them. The mother doe comes to feed her twice a day and has been known to fight off dogs and huff and puff with any 2 legged folks wandering around. She stays behind my barn in another thicket full of browse and forbs. Was going to mow the back acre but noticed she was bedded down so will give her a rest.
