ELR stage, 1500, 1600 and 1700 yards - 06/01/20 04:40 PM

Here's one of the stages from this weekend out at the Triple C. It was the ELRSO "Out with the Covid-19" match. My shooting buddy was shooting and I was spotting for him. First shot was cold bore at 1000 yards. He missed it, but also blew his suppressor cover down range about 20 yards and destroyed it! He missed just off the right edge and I think the cover messed it up. The next shots are 3 shots at 1500, 3 shots at 1600, and 3 shots at 1700 yards. He didn't miss any of those. Rifle is a custom 7mm/300 Win Mag shooting the Berger 195's suppressed. He cold bored 1800 yards with a center punch on the next stage also (I didn't have time to record that stage). All targets were 2 moa in size. That was some fine shooting there! He took second place in the match, and was tied for first going into the final 1800 yard stage. The video transfer to YouTube didn't come out that clear, so sorry for the degraded video quality.

Very nice. Need a GoPro on each of the stages for some close up impact video.

Awesome shooting.

So, Chad, 7/300wm vs 28 Nosler?

Pressure for pressure, the 28 will outperform the 7mm/300WM by a small margin. But the 300WM brass is 1/4 to 1/3 the cost of the 28 brass. The 28 is a GREAT round, but kind of expensive to shoot with a lot of rounds. The 7/300 loads I've seen are always a grain to 3 grains less powder than the 28, so not by much.

Looked like a decent crowd over there. I was shooting the border war nrl match. Was there a target cam up on a target or two? I'm pretty certain I saw what looked like a tripod close to a few targets.

Yes, there were 2 target cams. One on each of the 2 targets at 1800 yards. It was pretty cool! Someone put a bullet through one of the tripods, also.

I thought so. Did the mirage eat you guys up? It was rough at times but figured over in y'alls line it wouldn't be too bad.
