Cool little beasts. I have seen 2 around Amarillo so far this spring. Wish there were more of them around.

Seeing quite a few right now done in Starr County. They have plenty of food right now. Brings back memories as a kid seeing them run around the alleys.

We had lots of them when I was a youngster. I remember my Grandfather telling me that he would give a quarter for every horned toad that we would bring him. At the time, my Dad was working for Shell Oil Company south of Big Foot, TX. At noon after emptying his lunch box, he walked around and picked up about 20 horned toads. That evening we took them to my Grandfather and presented him with the catch. From that day forward, the deal was off...
Adios,
Gary

I joined the Horned Lizard watch many years ago, eager to report sightings. Well I'm in the Metromess, so this has been the slowest of my hobbies, ha. But at the Heard in McKinney they once hoped to reintroduce some of them. Haven't heard any updates.

They are so cool. Grew up in Midland in the 70's and 80's they were everywhere.
