A friend shot one of two. The second one jumped on the dead one and started flogging it.

Take a turkey in the fall when not with hens and you are much more likely to experience this (the Ox story).
Nice spurs on that one! Thank you for sharing, Don.

Good oics Don, those are fun to watch. Saw 2 fighting for over an hour through a net wire fence one afternoon, no camera.

Bill, several times I have shto the dominate gobbler of a group and shot another as it was beating down the dead tom. Makes for easy tag filling

Seen it a few times. Gives you another shot opportunity.

Set up on the south fence of the Fox pasture and started calling. Got multiple responses immediately. The 1st two I saw were nice mature birds, but the 3rd one tagging behind was the big boy, only he had a severe limp. Patiently, I tried to wait for Limpy. The other two got in real close on me and alerted. Limpy might have had a limp when he walked, but not when he ran. He ran like greased lightning.
Never saw him again until the next deer hunting season. Shotsie was probably 10 -12 at the time and a flock of nine gobblers came in from very near the same spot. She wanted to take one with her 22-250. I said wait a minute. Sure enough, along straggled Limpy. When he got about 70 yards out, she aimed for and succeeded in shooting Limpy right there in the neck. Limpy went down like a rock. The other birds initially ran off, but then circled back. She wanted to take another, but I said we had enuff. Pretty soon after that the three largest birds started viciously going after ol' Limpy. I guess after years of being pushed around, they were going to take the opportunity to get even. With her feet never hitting the ladder Shotsie jumped out of the 5' blind and chased away them there gobblers.
Definitely one of my most precious hunting memories. Had the whole thing on tape, but some crooked person ended up burglarizing our place and it is now gone gone.
