CATCH N COOK (BOAT LOAD OF FISH) - 04/26/20 10:23 PM
Last weekend sucked! In fact It was one of the worst trips in probably 20 years for me. Between me and Dad we fished for 5 hours and boated one stinking fish!
This weekend was the exact opposite! Dad didn't want to go so I went by myself. I know some of yall have PM'ed me wanting to go sometime but until this social distancing crap is relaxed its best not to chance it.
Anyway I pulled up to a submerged levee and started graphing looking for Sandbass. Didn't take long until the graph blacked out with fish. I stopped the boat and started whacking them every cast for about an hour and a half. After that petered out I decided to go looking for Crappie around 9:30. Took about 10 minutes to find them and another 20 minutes to figure them out. Once I did I probably caught about 50 or so but only about 15 keepers.
In all I probably caught 100 Sandbass and Hybrids and about 50 Crappie. So about 150 fish from 8am till noon. I probably kept about 30 of the biggest ones. I didn't want to leave but I knew I had to clean them and get them cooked up. When I left the ramp looked like 4th of July weekend! I have never seen so many dang boats and trucks at the ramp. People were parked as far as the eye could see!
I ended up just cooking the Crappie and freezing the Sandies. Im good for 2 days breakfast, lunch, and dinner with all this fried fish! Threw in a few seasoned tater wedges to cool off the grease when the temperature would try to climb on me.
