Great weekend trip to the Pitchfork (Graphic) - 02/03/20 06:32 PM
Went to the lease this past weekend with a goal of taking two does (MLD) and then try to kill as many hogs and coyotes as I could find. Ended up with 2 does, 3 hogs, and 4 coyotes confirmed. May have got another coyote and another hog after watching thermal video but didn't find them.
This was my favorite set. On the way home I decided to stop t the big tank, wind was perfect had the sun to my back and deep draws leading to tank. Placed call about 50 yards out and within a minute had a coyote come out to my front and try to circle downwind but that exactly what I wanted and when he did bang, flop, game over.
This one was sitting on a hillside on the other side of a draw. I was walking in low light to the stand when I seen him. I stopped set up tripod and he stood up and looked at me. He should have ran.
Large sow had 3 50ish pound hogs with her. Dropped her then picked off 2/3 of the smaller ones.
This was my favorite. Snuck up to one of our sets to look for hogs about 30 min before dark when I spotted this coyote on his back legs with front paws in a cedar tree, he was eating the berries. Estimated 300 yards and took the shot holding 1 MIL and smoked him. Once I walked to the coyote I opened my GPS app and I was 291 yards from the stand where I took the shot standing off my tripod.
One of our sets as seen through my thermal after updating firmware. Have killed quite a few hogs from the hills overlooking that feeder.
