Pre and Post Rut Pics

Pre and Post Rut Pics - 01/20/20 04:29 PM

I took this pic November 17th. I probably should have shot, but opted not too. We put a family member on him and she hunted him hard, but never found him. On new year’s eve a neighbor said he thought he saw him running a doe about 2 miles away from where the pic was taken, so I had some hope that he was still out there.

Saturday evening he showed back up in the same spot. Look how rutted down he is! All broken up and has to have lost 1/3rd of his body weight. Hopefully he can recover and make it another year.

cheers He is rutted down. Some rut harder than others and loose more weight. They also loose a lot of weight very quickly the first two weeks IME. Glad he made back to his core area....now if it will just start raining.

Don't have much in the way of paired photos, but we have some pretty tired looking bucks as well.

Kind of looks like he may have ear ticks or mites or something the way in both pictures his ears are not held the way they should be.
