Chad's ammo gets it done again! - 01/04/20 06:39 AM
We've got a buck that Gammaw named "limpy lopsided". He's missing a foot and one side of his rack was much smaller than the other side. He was number 1 on the hit list this weekend for my boy. With about 20 mins of legal light left, deer started filtering in. First a doe, then a young 8, then a forkhorn...etc. the 11th deer to show was limpy. Chay started to get the shakes as he shouldered the BAR. I watched the deer through my binoculars to make sure he didn't shoot the wrong deer. It took a long while to get a shot as there was always another deer in front or behind limpy. Which was probably a good thing. Chay did a great job of breathing and calming himself down and waiting for the right shot. It finally presented itself with just a few minutes of legal light left. The shot was just a little too far back as limpy was quartering towards us, but it didn't matter. He piled up only around 30 yards away just inside the tree line. Both lungs and liver taken out. Afterwards he used his new buck knife and gutted his kill mostly by himself.
