grin

OK deer scorer's while everyone is wanting to 'judge' deer antlers.

What do you think the gross score is on this buck my Daughter killed. I know exactly what it scores...but am curious to see the 'range' people will guess.

I know we have experienced folks here and they are generally pretty close with their predictions, so who thinks they know?

Deep East Texas Buck
Likely 4.5 years old.
From my property (not managed, no supplemental feed, etc).

As I glanced at the first pic I thought low 130’s as I payed down this thread I began to second guess myself.

I’ll stand by my original guess.

Congrats to both of you!

O.K. Gentlemen....looks like this thread has pretty much run its course. Thank you to all for your kind words. And yes, the only thing that really matters is the time shared together (Father/Daughter) whether successful harvesting a deer or not.

I am impressed with all the judgments. You guys have a pretty keen eye. No one was really very far off.

The buck scored 127-6/8ths. So @BigPig guessed the closest, but everyone that guessed between mid 120's and 130 was pretty much spot on.

Next time...we'll do Hog weights, that's where things really fly off the tracks.

Good job guys!

My estimate of 127" seems closest.

@BigPig guessed 127-3/8thsl....so he was just a bit closer than your guess...but yours was spot on as well. In fact, everyone did pretty darn good.

Since I am now what they call an expert. 128 4/8 I didn't read you last post either. Surprised myself on how close I guessed. Beautiful Buck

Thank You, but really just pretty average for any mature 8 point where we are. My Daughter is an RN and does 'Travel Nursing' so she is often out of State and we have limited time to hunt when she is here visiting. So the first O.K. buck that comes along is going to be fair game.

She will also take a Doe most times as well...so we can stock the freezer with a couple of deer that way. Weather has been variable to say the least. Cold one time we went out, hot the next.

We were hoping to see a nice 'survivor' from last year that I have few pics of...but no daytime pics (yet) and haven't seen him since mid October.

This one wasn't a problem...because I have a small trailer I can load deer onto as long as I can get to them. A couple of years ago..the buck my Daughter shot then gave us some trouble...because her truck (Ford 4x4) sits pretty high. Took us several tries to swing it up on the tailgate.

Many of our 'mature' bucks will go 175-200 lbs on the hoof. And its 'dead weight' of course, so unwieldy.
