Rattle snake - 09/30/19 01:58 AM

Killed a pretty good sized snake last night that was in a dog pen.
Here is a pic of my little nephew holding it.

That snake is bigger than your nephew! Stretched skin/hide would make a nice display. Well done.

I think my buddy said it had 12 buttons, I gave the rattles to him.
I think it was just under 5’. It was a big thick fat one too!

Yes Sir, we have been looking for them.

It sure was.
It was big and fat.
We tried to catch it and relocate it.
It was at night and we did not have the proper tools , or lights to get it done.
Ended up having to kill it.

I’m not much on relocating a snake either...I’m guessing the dogs were making a heck of a racket!

My worst nightmare right there. That thing is huge. Keep your eyes open everyone, especially at night, carry a good flashlight.

That would have been a good one to tan. There is enough hide there to make a good belt.

I always relocate their heads and bodies to separate locations.

I set up a pop-up blind Friday evening with the expectation of hunting it Saturday afternoon. I went to the blind for the Saturday afternoon hunt and found company! [Linked Image]

I generally give snakes (all) a pass when they aren't up around the house or outbuildings...but THAT just wouldn't do! I think I'd have to dispatch that one.
