Not sure if it helps, but doesn't seem to be hurting it. I warn everyone and have signs up. 7 in the compound area so far this year. All the rain seems to have them moving a bit more than normal. Part of it living in the country.

I understand wanting to move them but am curious about a couple of points. How far do they have to be moved to prevent them from returning and at what point do you determine there is an over population and start reducing the numbers?

It would for me, I despise mice and rats in a rental cabin.....as soon as I see any sign of them I'm out.

I relocate them about 3 miles, where I move them, they won't be coming back. I relocate all rattlers that are around my compound, the ones on the ranch I leave alone.

I usually relocate 8-16 out of my compound area each year. Those two yesterday made it 7 so far this year. I believe all the rain has them moving more.

up Never understood needing to kill them unless it’s necessary.

Was raised by my Grandfather. He killed EVERY single snake he saw. He was educated and could tell you what they were down to what family they were in, habitat range, and favored prey. He’d tell me all about them while killing them. Was always strange to me even as a child. He’d say, “I was raised to kill snakes regardless.” confused2

got to say...glad I don't have that problem in the metromess....dealing with them at camp is one thing but having to worry about it while taking out the trash...nope.

I am curious....how far away do you relocate them?
