Not the best point I've ever made. - 12/01/18 03:51 PM
Not the best but it is a first. This point measures just under 6 inches and is 1 5/8ths inches wide and about a 1/4 inch at it's thickest which is thinner than most of the Sedalia type points I've seen. Several of these points that I've examined show very little pressure flaking and that's usually just in the tip area. The rest is all done with percussion using either bone, stone or antler. I chose to use hammer stones and this is the end result with no pressure flaking to finish the edge, it didn't need it. While I use hammer stones stones often for spalling and roughing out biface's I've never attempted to make a complete point with just stone. This is about as old school as I can get.
