Glock’d a doe

Glock’d a doe - 11/26/18 04:20 PM

We had a great Thanksgiving weekend of hunting. We saw a ton of deer with some great hunts. I took my son and his friend (who had never seen a deer). We sat in my buddy's bow blind which is a pop up ground blind 22 yards from the feeder. We had deer from the minute we sat down til I shot this doe right before dark. The boys kept harassing me the entire time about shooting a doe with my pistol. So, why not. She came out again right before dark. The shot ended up being a broad side shot right at 13 yards from a Glock 23, 40 cal compact pistol. It's my EDC pistol. Ammo was my ammo with a 180 grain bonded Gold Dot (UHP). The shot was a little high, and ended up piercing the top of both lungs and clipped the spine. She dropped in her tracks. We got it on video, and I'll try to post it up later, also. The bullet expanded and was lodged under the far side skin.

This second picture below is exactly what I saw and where I shot from.

Awesome! That will be a great memory for yall to share!

I injured my rotator cuff when I bow hunted years ago. Since I couldn't draw my bow, I went to hand gun hunting for a couple of seasons out of my bow stands. Every bit as challenging, fun, and rewarding as bow hunting.

And coined a new verb - "to Glock" something. Past tense - Glock'd.

Used in a sentence: Pitch that empty beer can out there and watch me Glock it.

Thank you, guys! When I made the decision to actually shoot, I got a little buck fever. I have not had buck fever in years! It was a pure thrill!

Very nice and good to get the fever back! which is why I've pretty much gone back to bow and cross bow. Now will try pistols for that feeling too.
Congrats and good food
