Costa Rica Fishing - 3 Days Straight Offshore!

Myself and two buddies traveled to Quepos Costa Rica last week and ended up having the trip of a lifetime.

The boat - Caribsea: 46' Guthrie with a Detroit 8V92(2 stroke diesel) - This would be our home for the next 3 days and nights


Total tally for 3 men fishing for 3 days.....

7 Marlin (6 blue & 1 striped)
3 Sail Fish
3 Wahoo
26 Yellow Fin Tuna
50+ Dorado/Mahi Mahi - we had a confirmed 40 by the end of day 2 and by 10am of day 3 we had another 10.... When I lost count because we hooked up with 4 at the same time

I also ended up with my new personal best Dorado measuring 72"

Medicinal alcohol supplies included....

A 3 liter bottle of Crown Royal (yes 3 liters in one bottle)
750ml bottle of crown special reserve X 2
Bottle of Gentleman Jack 1liter
Markers Mark 1liter
Jameson cask mate 1liter
Stolicnaya Vodka 750ml - because I make damn good bloody marrys

They had cases of imperial beer along with every thing else we needed.

A few cans of beer survived.... all whiskey 🥃 was buried at 🌊

Buck-snort we opted for extending the trip for 12 hours for $1,200 so we got 3 days fishing and 3 nights on the boat for $8,200- all beer, 3 hot meals a day and 3 man crew..... oh and FYI those black barrels strapped to the crows nest are filled with diesel because your going up to 150mi out. Trust me it was worth every penny and the crew gets tipped too so we added 15% - they worked HARD and we tried to be low maintenance clients.

We went out with him years ago and had a 32’ ocean master with captain and deck hand for 3 day charters straight for $2,000 and honestly I wouldn’t try a multi night until you get a couple of day charters under your belt

Fished out of Quepos twice and wass never disappointed. Lots of fish to catch. Looks like a fantastic trip. Thanks for the pics.
