Our ranch in Knox County is MLD, but because of all the rain, a weekend committed to taking my daughter hunting and hosting a youth hunt last weekend, I did not get a chance to hunt until this past weekend. We still can’t access half of our ranch because a creek runs through it and has not been low enough to cross for weeks. Well things were shaping up to be a typical slow first weekend in November. Saturday saw plenty of deer including a super 8 point that was now a 7 after breaking off his G3, but nothing better. Sunday morning started with a buck strolling past the feeder before first light. I could not tell just what he was as he walked across the opening into the brush. Light came and there was sporadic rapid shotgun fire in the distance from waterfowl hunters, but not a sign of a deer. Then as it always seems to happen, Mr. Brow Tines suddenly stepped out of the brush looking like he had been chasing the girls and needed a quick boost of carbs. I had seen this deer on the far side of our ranch last summer, but noticed he was on a game camera earlier in the week on the near side of the ranch. First photo was him earlier in the week.
He’s a main frame 10 with 2 kickers. Mass was 35 inches and beams almost 50. Longest brow tine was 9 3/4. Grossed 167 1/2.
