Would have been eleven, had three feet of tail missing.

Regarding the missing section of tail, is an attack like that typically made by a larger gator or could it just as well have been a smaller one?

if its missing, how ya know its 3ft ?

Alligators have specific patterns in the tail where skin patterns and scutes meet, knowing where these are, one is able to estimate the amount of tail missing.

Thats a bruiser for sure, we had one about that size in a pond thats backs up to Big creek last year but I think he went back over to the sloughs on 7J

Its that time again, gator hunts starting at 500.00 all inclusive, WMA and private lands hunts.

Very interested in something like this, put it on my bucket list. I know exactly NOTHING about a Texas alligator hunt but lots of good information and guides on the search. I DID find out this is a very small window in September to hunt gator. Will need to start making arrangements immediately or defer until next season. Any tips or recommendations appreciated. Thanks
